To reduce the feelings of exhaustion and burnout from your routines, look for activities that will help you relax and lift your spirit. Here at Oshawa Italian Recreation Club, we invite you to join us in the following activities:

Dancing

Dancing helps reduce stress and divert your attention away from the things that bother you. Instead, you can focus on the music and the movement of your body. You don’t necessarily have to dance well to get the benefits of this activity. As long as you’re having fun, then it’s a great way to spend your time.

Reading

Reading is an excellent way to relax and let your mind wander. It’s perfect for those who just want to sit back and enjoy an activity without breaking a sweat. It is also a great hobby to develop, which not only relieves stress but also improves your critical thinking, vocabulary and creativity.

What’s great about reading books is that they are compact and convenient to carry around so you can easily bring them out and read a few chapters anywhere. You can also explore different reading materials whether fiction or nonfiction such as short stories, poetry, autobiographies and more.

Meditating

You don’t always have to spend your free time keeping yourself active and occupied. Sometimes, you just have to sit and allow yourself to calm down and step away from the things that stress you out.

Since there are several types of meditation, you can simply choose one that best suits your situation. For instance, you can try self-meditation, which can be done anywhere such as at home, at work or when you’re out in nature.

Making art

Improve your imagination and unleash your creativity by indulging in the relaxing process of arts and crafts. There’s nothing more rewarding than creating or building something from scratch. You can experiment with different materials and techniques in expressing yourself through your piece.

Even if you’re not artistically inclined, it’s a great way to explore the practice and simply have fun with whatever medium you have. You can start sketching small objects you can find at home or you can take on the challenge of painting landscapes or portraits.

Walking

Walking helps keep you physically active without putting too much pressure or stress on your body. It allows you to stay grounded and organise your thoughts so that you don’t feel too overwhelmed by your problems.

Aside from this, it is also a good way to start getting into the habit of exercising. If you’re intimidated by workout routines and other physical activities, you can begin by taking walks for 15 to 30 minutes.

Taking breaks

One of the best ways to spend your leisure time is to sit around and do the things you haven’t had the time to do recently. Treat yourself to a delicious cup of hot chocolate in the morning and share a meal with your friends in the afternoon.
